The Art of Harmony Between Body, Mind, and Spirit
Shaolin Kung Fu originates from the Buddhist culture of Shaolin Temple, shaped by the wisdom of Chan (Zen) philosophy and centuries of practice. It is not only a system of martial techniques for combat and self-defense, but also a refined discipline based on deep understanding of the human body and traditional Chinese medicine.
At its core, Shaolin Kung Fu emphasizes harmony — between movement and stillness, strength and compassion, form and spirit. This principle is embodied in the concept of “Liu He” (Six Coordinations), which integrates body, mind, and energy into one unified system.
With over 1,500 years of evolution, Shaolin Kung Fu has developed into one of the most sophisticated methods of physical training and inner cultivation, aligning human potential with the natural laws of the world.
Shaolin Kung Fu is a full-body practice that improves physical strength, posture, coordination, and overall well-being. Through movement, breathing, and meditation, it cultivates focus, inner calm, confidence, and effective self-defense skills.

Center Introduction
Shanghai Shaolin Kung Fu Culture Center was established in 2018 by Shi Yan'an, a 34th-generation warrior monk from China's Songshan Shaolin Temple. The center aims to promote and share the Shaolin principles of "equality, health, compassion, and peace," advocating a healthy lifestyle for modern people. It guides individuals to cultivate wisdom in life and enhance the quality of life through the practice of Shaolin Chan (Zen) and martial arts. The Shaolin Kung Fu Culture Center provides an ideal environment for practicing kung fu. It offers authentic Shaolin kung fu courses and related activities to people from all over the world on a membership basis, serving as a platform for communication and exchange among Shaolin kung fu enthusiasts.
Center Features
Using Chan (Zen) to enter martial arts, and practicing martial arts to cultivate Chan. Shaolin Kung Fu is profound and extensive precisely because of the unity of Chan and martial arts. It is by no means a minor skill merely for self-defense or physical fitness. In retreat, one practices Chan, nurtures one's nature, and cultivates the Way; in action, one protects the monastery, serves the country, and saves all beings.
Wushu Chan (Martial Arts Chan) provides a path that anyone can personally follow, ultimately leading to "seeing one's true nature and attaining Buddhahood." The outward form of Shaolin Kung Fu is routines, but its ultimate goal is to cultivate the immovable mind. To reach a state without afflictions or suffering, one must achieve this immovable mind. Wushu Chan is the great path that leads to the immovable mind.
